So I was playing Chrono Trigger on my snes rom and I was thinking. Is it possible to have combo attacks like in CT? Like if two people accepted to perform the attack like they do in dueling. So a more powerful attack might come out? I dunno, I was thinking that this way bosses can only be downed with more team effort. Meh, I'll think of something else =(

Had another idea so I thought I recycle my thread.
What was on my mind 2.0.
So I was watching my bro play WoW, and he was up to a boss where there was a timer that if you kill him with in that time period you get a bonus reward.
So I thought maybe high end bosses can have timers too for double the drops? Nothing fancy smancy just double whatever the chance of said item drops from that boss. I figure this would give more incentive for higher level people to get an item. Meh, I'll think of something else =\

Doesn't Aven dispise the WoW ideas? Anyway Ive never heard that you can get bonus from killing a boss in a certain timing. Unless what you meant was the enrage timer. But that doesn't give bonus drops ... actually never seen one also =.=. Tell me the name of the boss in PM form ...

I dispise WoW, and this idea was obviously adapted from it. However it is a good idea

I know you hate wow =\ but an idea is an idea. Btw the bosses are from ZG i think. the ones with the avatar forms like bear, eagle(hawk?). I stopped playing wow before the burning crusade so I don't know much about the expansion ones. I think the prize was getting the bear mount.

well, it costs money per month and requires an immense amount of time. its also hard to find people in the less populated servers, so youre essentially on your own for much of the early game. if you go to the servers with higher populations, youd need a godly computer with a connection of equal epicness.

I really like Joe's first idea with the combination attacks. If some moves were to be used together at the same time, in the correct location, on the same target (Yes, pretty confusing) and it did x2 the damage, it would be more of a Teamwork game, not more like massing level 200's in each game. Hopefully TBR 2.0, there would be more than level 200, but you get what i'm saying.. Also I only suggest the double damage combination on certain bosses, such as Hades in 2.0 and maybe some other really tough bosses that can only be killed by combination attacks or unless there are alot of some really high levels in the same game.

[white]yeah ... no combination attacks across classes is a really dodgy idea classes can aid each other, but it shouldnt require two or more people in unison[/white]

i agree with cyber_cheese, combo attacks are a dodgy idea.

ZG bosses dont drop extra loots if u can kill them on time. Actually none of them does that. Ok back to topic... well yeah sort off a good idea but the time triggerring must be very hard to code ...

But that doesn't give bonus drops ... actually never seen one also =.=. Tell me the name of the boss in PM form ... ZA Event. You kill all 4 bosses in the allotted time you got a shiny war bear. Not the best idea for tbr... However in the interest of bosses not being soloable... an enrage timer is a VERY good idea. Scaled in the same manner as waves were (ie level and number of players) would completely prevent say a tank and a healer from 2 manning a boss over the course of 30mins. Now granted scaling enrages would probably be a pregnant dog to code but meh its an idea. (Also good to see gosu back and spamming the forums ) Edit: And although wow does use enrage timers its not exclusive to wow in any shape or form.

everyone plays tbr knows it has a duel system in it, right?
the most amazing thing about that duel system is not that u can show noobies that you own them so much, but the fact that another player type -duel xxxx, u got the message of either to accept duel or not.
same thing can apply here, using the same system will be perfect to decide whether u and ur teammate want to combo up or not.
a problem here is when doing combo, does the - command need to declare the target? does it need to declare the skill being used? and does is come up every time u use a skill (like imbuilding the - command into a skill, so everytime a person uses a skill with a condition the accept menu come up) and also does it need to declare who u want to combo with?
Even though a lot of problems, but I am totally with the idea of comboing, probly using a system like -combo blue, and blue will start channeling with u until u cast a spell, which is 2x or more powerful than cast by one (whether class dependent or not), and with more people the power goes up a lot more. This can give tanking player ability to contribute to dmging the boss, cuz most of the time they just stand there. (of course, probly one of u can think of a better one, but u get what i mean)
The timer is defintely something worth considering, one classic example is hyperion in our 1.3 series, u got only 30 min to deal with him, and even if u got enough power to tank, if u can't deal enough dmg u can't get the gems. Same thing can apply here, but with the fact that u can still kill him after the time ends, but u got lower drop rate. This does help higher lvls a lot, ever feel like in 1.3 u have to get that little bracer or bitting blade but it's never appearing? and also, if one particular boss is so hard to kill, and one team does it in incredibly short time (due to excellent team work i guess), they should get a reward for that, and this helps with the teamming idea too.
